Arthur “Art” Dietrich, resident of Harborview Assisted Living, Manitowoc, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.

Art was born in Manitowoc on July 31, 1935, to Arthur and Clara (Bogenschutz) Dietrich. He attended grade school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Clarks Mills and St. Patrick’s Catholic School, Maple Grove, and graduated from Reedsville High School with the class of 1953. Art served his country for 6 years – 2 years active duty, 2 years Reserves, and 2 years Standby Reserves as a member of the U.S. Army. On October 8th, 1958, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth “Betty” Ebert at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Whitelaw. Betty preceded him in death in April of 2025. He was a lifetime member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. Art and Betty were blessed with 6 children.

Art started work as a factory worker with Hamilton Industries, and over his 43 years of employment he moved up to supervisor for the majority of those years until his retirement.

Art coached his sons in the summer baseball league for a few years. He enjoyed his yearly deer camp as a part of the “Old Guys Camp” from his early years with his dad, a few brothers, and good friends. He passed his love of hunting onto his sons, who are now members of the “Young Guys Camp.” Hunting was not his only passion, as he enjoyed fishing as well. Whether it was on Long Lake, Bullhead Lake – it didn’t matter – he was just happy to get his boat in the water. The boat was not always needed – there were many trips down a field to the river to catch “suckers,” which were brought home, cleaned, and canned by Mom. Needless to say, the family never went hungry.

His love for the outdoors showed as he was also a lifetime member of the Whitelaw Sportsman’s Club and the Manitowoc County Fish and Game. After holding many different positions in each, he was inducted into the Manitowoc County Conservationist Hall of Fame in 1996.

Art and Betty were also avid campers for many years, starting with a pop-up and graduating to a travel trailer. They truly enjoyed going to the Hodag in Rhinelander and passed that enjoyment on to their children and grandchildren.

Art also enjoyed the monthly “Card Club” with friends – where the men played sheepshead and the women played Royal Rummy.

Art loved his family and looked forward to any visitors that stopped in to say “hi!”

Survivors include his five children and their spouses: Jeff (Janel) Dietrich, Donald (Barb) Dietrich, Gary (Beth) Dietrich, Lisa (Dan) Lensmire, and Kim (Todd) Schneider; seven grandchildren: Alyssa (Jim) Clarke, Emily (Nick) Jubert, Jacob Dietrich (fiancée Joyce), Joshua (Amy) Dietrich, Matthew (Melissa) Lensmire, Michael Lensmire, and Maria (Jacob) Wittmann; nine great-grandchildren: Easton and Addison Clarke; Rorie Jubert, Trenton and Carson Dietrich; Cole, Hayes, and Bodie Lensmire; and Luca Wittmann. He is further survived by sisters-in-law: Judy and Claire Dietrich, as well as sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Barb and Paul Wallander, Joe Welch, Betty and Tom Ebert, Dan and Barb Ebert, and Ruth Noack.

In addition to his wife and his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, John and Margaret Ebert; Baby Son, and great-grandson Landyn Lensmire; six brothers and three sisters-in-law: Robert Dietrich, Charlie (Florence) Dietrich, Larry (Joan) Dietrich, Jerry (Delores) Dietrich, Leo Dietrich, and John Dietrich; four sisters and two brothers-in-law: Baby Lois Ann Dietrich, Sister Lois Ann, Dorothy (Alfred) Hoffman, and JoAnn (Scotty) Eiles; and Betty’s family – four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Jack Ebert, Eddie Ebert, Jim (Audrey) Ebert, Russell (Evelyn) Ebert, and Margaret Welch.

Funeral services will be held at 12 o’clock noon, Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whitelaw. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by his nephew, Rev. Bill Hoffman, assisted by Deacon Randy Jaeckels. Burial will take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Maple Grove at a later date. Military graveside honors will be accorded at the church immediately following the mass.

The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Michael’s Catholic Church Tuesday morning from 9:30 until 11:45 a.m. There will be no Monday evening visitation.
