Donald D. Hanson, age 91, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.

Don was born in Minong, WI, on March 12, 1935, to the late Manford and Gertrude (Severson) Hanson. He attended schools in Chittamo and Minong. Following high school, Don proudly enlisted in the United States Navy Reserves and served our country. Don worked as a heavy equipment operator and logger for many years in Mossinee.

On December 15, 1956, Don was united in marriage to his first wife, Maryann C. Hanson. The couple was blessed with 37 years of marriage and two daughters. She preceded him in death on September 19, 1994. Then on September 23, 2006, Don was united in marriage to Debra Anderson in Minong. The couple was just shy of celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary.

Don loved the outdoors; he liked to go fishing but found the most joy in hunting. He enjoyed hunting until he was 78 years old. Don was known to be a very helpful man; he was always willing to lend a helping hand and never expected anything in return.

Don loved God, his country and his family. Anytime a person spoke of Don they said, “he was a good man.” Don lived a great life; he will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debra; his daughters, Judy Melton of Solon Springs, Barb Parzych of Spooner; two sisters, Linda Stopinski of Minong, and Eilleen Paske of Superior; one stepson, Nathan Trinklein of St. Cloud, MN; 11 grandchildren, Duane, Brad, Jason, Ryan, Brianna, Mary, Makala, Chris, Michael, Brandon, and Charissa; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and 3 step grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ella, and Logan. Many wonderful nieces, nephews, and friends also survive.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Manford and Gertrude Hanson; his first wife, Maryann Hanson; a stepson, Benjamin Trinklein; brothers, Willard “Willie” Hanson, Oren Hanson, Gerald Hanson; sisters, Marcella Blaylock, Margaret Blaylock, Shirley Clemmer, and Donna Becker.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Wascott Cemetery in Douglas County on October 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
