Gil Henke, age 92 of Two Rivers, died unexpectedly on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at the Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers.
Gil was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on March 3, 1933 to Gilbert and Louise Henke. He attended 3 years of high school in St. Paul, MN and graduated high school in Toledo, Ohio. He then attended Concordia Seminary in Missouri and earned his bachelors degree in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Gil then furthered his education at Marquette University earning his masters degree in Mathematics and Computers, and eventually earned another masters degree in Education from Cardinal Stritch College.
Gil served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force for 5 years, serving a brief time in Korea. In 1958, he was united in marriage to Darlene M. Angelo. The couple was blessed with 67 years of marriage. Mr. Henke served as a mathematics teacher for 36 years at Milwaukee Lutheran high school until his retirement. For many years, Gil was in charge of publishing the year book for Milwaukee Lutheran high school and also worked in ticket sales for football games at the school. Over the years, he often held several part-time jobs to help support his family; he was a huge giver of his time in his teaching career, as a father and loving husband. He will be remembered for having an extremely high I.Q., always wanting to learn more.
Gil was a passionate lover of dogs, fishing, model trains, and great lover of cars. He was an avid reader, especially books about Space, and any Christian books.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene; one daughter, Julie Almeida-Henke of Two Rivers; one son & daughter-in-law, Jeff (Karie) Henke of Indiana; and his grandchildren: Jeffrey (Peyton) Henke, Drew Henke, Nathan Henke and Connor Keating. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Gilbert "Jim" Henke.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 5, 2025 at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th Street, Two Rivers. The family will greet relatives and friends at Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will follow in Forest View Cemetery, Two Rivers with military graveside honors accorded by members of American Legion Post #165 and VFW Post #1248 of Two Rivers.
