James A. Emond, age 88, passed away peacefully at home on May 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 3, 1936, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Jim was a lifelong resident of the community he cherished.
Jim was the eldest of four siblings, born to Everett and Elsie (Cerkas) Emond. He graduated from Washington High School in 1954 and proudly served in the National Guard from 1954 to 1958. On October 27, 1973, he married the love of his life, Linda Brooks, with whom he welcomed two children.
Early in his career, Jim managed Henry’s Drive-In, where his love for a good hamburger began. His joy for food and cooking lead him to Fox Hills Resort as their Head Chef. His professional journey continued at Hamilton Manufacturing, where he dedicated 46 years of service before retiring in 2008.
In addition to his work life, Jim was affectionately known as the Lakeshore’s original “Candy Man.” Jim and his wife operated Emond’s Concessions from the 1970s to the 1990s and brought so much joy to local residents, children and adults alike.
Jim was an amazing husband, father, and grandpa, deeply loved by all who knew him. He enjoyed all sports, particularly football and baseball, and was an avid fan of the Packers, Badgers, and Brewers. He found joy in taking random trips to the casino and playing cards with family, but his greatest joy came from spending quality time with his loved ones.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda Emond, of Two Rivers, WI; their children, Steven (Nicole Nischke) Emond of Manitowoc, WI; Valerie (Kory) Vanderlinden of Two Rivers, WI; his daughter Vicki Emond of Bradenton, FL; and grandchildren Ezze Emond and Jimmy and Laney Vanderlinden. Jim is also survived by many cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Elsie Emond; his two sons, Keith and Kevin Emond; three siblings, Douglas Emond, Wesley Emond, and Sharon O’Connor; as well as his father-in-law Francis Brooks, mother-in-law Cleo Brooks, three sisters-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
Deja & Martin Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. James will be cremated and a private service and burial will be held at a later date. He will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
