Richard J. (Dick) Wier, age 94, resident of Two Rivers, died late Sunday evening, March 1, 2026 at Harbor View Assisted Living in Manitowoc.
Dick was born in Manitowoc on June 25, 1931 to Alois and Barbara (Rohde) Wier. He attended St. Andrew's Catholic School and graduated with the class of 1949 from Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Dick proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy during the Korean War (1950-1954), serving as a cook on the LST-400. He was united in marriage to Doris J. Zellner, June 27, 1953 at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Doris preceded him in death on October 7, 2021.
Mr. Wier was employed as a pricing administrator and contract supervisor with Imperial Eastman of Manitowoc for 44 years, retiring in 1992. After retiring, Dick worked part-time delivering chocolates for Beerntsen's Confectionary of Manitowoc for 20 years. In his spare time he enjoyed many years golfing in the Tuesday night Meadow Links golf league; and enjoyed playing fastpitch & slowpitch softball as a pitcher for 32 years.
Dick, and the love of his life, Doris enjoyed spending winter months in Lake Havasu, Arizona for many years. He loved following his grandchildren and great-grandchildren's many sporting events - Always supporting as their biggest fan! He also adored his great-grandchildren and loved to help babysit them.
Survivors include his children: Susan (Richard) Barrett of Rothschild, WI, Linda (Jeffrey) Wolfert of Plymouth, WI, and Mary Lee (Timothy) Smith of Two Rivers, WI; his grandchildren: Jessica (Greg) Kusiak, Tara (Givan) Mack, Alicia (Eric) Koshalek, Scott Wolfert, Melissa (Jake) Obbink, Spencer (Brianna) Smith, Dexter (Mackenzie) Smith, Trevor Smith (Sydney Shallock); and his beloved great-grandchildren: Hayden and Landon Obbink; Payton and Reagan Koshalek; Jaxton, Camden, and Emmie Smith; and Adeline Smith. Dick is further survived by two brothers-in-law & a sister-in-law: John Zellner, Robert Zellner, and Sally Zellner; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris; special daughter, Connie Wier; brother, Norman (Janie) Wier; sister, Dianne (Bob) Maedke; and father & mother-in-law, Adolph and Helen Zellner.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2026 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, 3201 Mishicot Rd., Two Rivers. The memorial mass will be celebrated by Rev. Dave Pleier, with burial of his cremated remains in Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc at a later date. Military graveside honors will be accorded at the church immediately following the mass by members of American Legion Post #165 and VFW Post #1248 of Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church Friday morning, March 20th from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. There will be no Thursday evening visitation.
