Wayne R. "Twinks" Markusen, age 85 of Two Rivers, passed away late Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay following a brief illness.
Wayne was born on June 3rd, 1940, in Mountain, Wisconsin to Selmer and Esther (Elbe) Markusen. He attended St. John's Lutheran School in Two Rivers and was a 1958 graduate of Washington High School. The same year, he joined the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1962. On December 14, 1963, he was united in marriage to Patricia J. Peltier at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. The couple was blessed with three children and 61 years of marriage. Before returning to Two Rivers, Wayne and Patti were previous residents of Arizona for 36 years.
Wayne was employed with Paragon Electric in Two Rivers for several years, and later worked as a Civil Engineer for the City of Two Rivers and the City of Phoenix in Arizona, retiring in 2006. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting in his younger days, and enjoyed music - especially playing piano and the accordion (never reading notes, just playing by ear). Wayne also loved the CUBS and the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include his wife, Patti; daughter & son-in-law, Dana and Kent Anderson of Two Rivers; two sons & a daughter-in-law: Stephen Markusen, Brett (Ilana) Markusen, all of Arizona; five grandchildren: Elise (Ryan) Kiel, Beau (Jennifer) Anderson, Hunter Markusen, Katie Sims, and Elinor Sims; along with three great-grandchildren: Sloan and Rhett Kiel, and Olivia Anderson. He is further survived by one sister & two brothers-in-law: Anita (John) Nagel of Two Rivers, Charles (Rita) Peltier of Mesa, AZ; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Selmer and Esther Markusen and one brother, Richard Markusen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3607 45th Street, Two Rivers. Rev. David Arndt will preside at the service, with military graveside honors to follow at the church immediately following the service by members of the American Legion Post # 165 and VFW Post #1248 of Two Rivers.
The family will greet relatives and friends at St. John's Lutheran Church Wednesday morning from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. There will be no Tuesday evening visitation.
